News September 2005

Time flies so fast that despite all my best intentions updating the web site is always something that just doesn't get done. Anyway it is a rainy cold Sunday, summer is ending and our thoughts, as always this time of the year, turn to wondering about how good the snow will be this winter. We are a sad bunch really, getting excited in August because La Thuile will have yet another new chair lift this winter. It is only because I left the boards up in La Thuile that I am not down in the garage waxing them today. Autumn, as beautiful as it is, seems to be this annoying period between hanging around the pool and snowboarding.

Cindy has finally got a few moments to breath as the kids are finally back at school after the long summer break. Nicola goes into 2nd year varsity after a generally successful 1st year. A small hiccup in Micro Economics the only blemish in an otherwise great year. She will catch that up in November. As opposed to the dark ages in which I went to varsity where you had one go to pass and exam and if you didn't make it, tough! next year would bring another chance, these days they have multiple goes at passing the same test. Calvin is into 3rd year of "Liceo" which is like high school. He starts the all important last three years which all count towards getting into varsity. Catrina has started middle schools and already seems to have settled in well.

I have a new job at Vodafone. I am very happy and the job is great. I have been employed in the UK, but since the job is global and involves tons of travel, I will be getting a small flat there and the family will remain in Italy. For those that are interested I am a Global Director in IT. The company is fantastic and such a breath of fresh air after Capgemini. Of course i would prefer a job where I could stay at home more, but with the economic situation in Italy good jobs are hard to come by.

This summer flew by. We spent some time in SA, which was great! Saw my folks in Barberton (they are moving to Italy in a weeks time by the way), went to the Kruger for a few days (see the pics) and also visited Cape Town and East London. I can hear the screams now - sorry we never got around to seeing everyone. The time was so short and we had a lot to do while we were there, so please accept our apologies. Next time we will try and to better, promise. The photos page has some pics of the Kruger, Cape Town and East London. We had such a great time at Karen and Ted's place in East London. They have created a piece of paradise there. A small game park where you can go game viewing on quad bikes. I am so sorry I did not have a week to spend just there.  I would advise anyone visiting SA to spend some time with them - We had so much fun running like kids from one activity to another, quad bikes, game viewing, archery, paint ball and the list goes on. in Cape Town we stayed with Kim and Ian and it was so nice to see them and the kids again, as well as the Sasson's. Have to say our kids had a great time and we often just left them at the Kings place and went off to do our chores. Just no time to really see and talk to everyone we wanted to and to do half the things we wanted to. By the way we even went to a Game Park in Cape Town called Solole, really small but great fun and amazing when you think it is in the middle of Nordhoek. Definitely  need to find the time to go back to SA soon.

So short and sweet this time. Take care all. Lots of love from the Brizzi's
